What people are saying:
What I hope you gain
from the extended commentary:
Confidence in your ability to direct a movie ✅
As we watch the full movie together (broken into three parts (act 1, act 2, act 3), I’ll pause, rewind, and dive into why we shot the movie the way we did, and how we pulled off specific shots and moments on a tiny budget. Hearing my experience and thought process will help solidify both things you know, and help you clarify on points in which you disagree with my approach. This will de-mystify the entire process and will build major confidence in your own approach to filmmaking.
Clarity regarding what it takes to prep / run a set as director 🎯
You can learn the long hard way, or you can take my experience getting things right, and wrong. During the 3+ hours of commentary I go in depth on what worked, and what didn’t. I discuss: casting, sourcing locations & props, rehearsing, planning shooting schedules, shotlisting, dealing with issues, and more.
Belief to jumpstart your own projects 🎬
I love DVD commentaries and Q&A’s with famous directors online, but sometimes their advice is a little out of reach. They often discuss crew sizes, budgets, and equipment I can’t afford. In this case, I’m discussing a low-budget, indie movie, shot by a small crew, in less than 2 weeks, which I then edited myself. And if I can do it, you can too.

Frequently asked questions ⚡️🥤
-
I’ll give your money back, no big deal.
-
Nope. This is from the director’s point of view. But understand, we will be discussing things like coverage, the theory of lighting, and some equipment and techniques, but don’t expect this to be a shot-by-shot lighting diagram.

I’m Luke Covert. I was 26 when I directed Turbo Cola, and for about a decade prior to that I’d been directing and shooting music videos, short films, and commercials. This was my first opportunity to direct a long form feature film and I learned a lot. I currently live in Harrisburg, PA on a quiet street.
