Our task was to edit compelling, short, promotional videos from over 6 hours of raw footage.
The SkillShare team did an amazing job of capturing hours of footage showcasing both the educational aspects of the course as well as the personality of the instructor, Kalis. The main challenge in a project like this is the sheer volume of the content provided. An editor has to be able to clearly see the 'sparks' that need to be pulled out and highlighted. But they must also be able to discard great moments that just don't fit this particular application. With roughly three weeks until the course launched, efficiency was paramount.
Kalis is a musician, so we gave the video “vibe”.
After culling through the raw footage and finding a soundscape that set the tone I was looking for, I worked hand-in-hand with the amazing producers at SkillShare to hone in the edit. Over the course of about a week we revised and collaborated on things like graphics and pacing to create a compelling and effective piece of promotional collateral that's as fresh as Kalis's cooking.
